LALH/SAH Research Grant Program

In partnership with the Society of Architectural Historians, LALH is establishing a new grant
program to support and promote scholarship related to the history of landscape design and
planning in North America. Open to scholars worldwide, the grants will support a broad range of
projects including journal articles, book manuscripts, films, exhibitions, public lectures, and
cultural landscape reports. Four $5,000 grants will be awarded annually to fund research,
writing, and travel costs. Three of the four grants will be awarded to scholars whose careers
reflect a strong commitment to research and publication in the field of American landscape
history, and one grant will be awarded to a current graduate student.

The first application cycle of the LALH Research Grant Program will open in October 2026.
