Lecture and Film Premiere: SRO for Buffalo
Lecture and Film Premiere: SRO for Buffalo
In late October, a standing-room-only crowd turned out at The Arsenal in Central Park for a lecture and premiere of the film The Best Planned City in the World: Olmsted, Vaux, and the Buffalo Park System. LALH and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation cohosted the event, which featured a talk by Francis R. Kowsky, the author of the LALH book of the same title. Both the book and the twelve-minute documentary celebrate Buffalo’s system of parks and parkways, the nation’s first.
Subscribers to our newsletter will receive a private link to preview the film on the winter solstice. In time, LALH will post a permanent link to Best Planned City on lalh.org/films, where it will join the two previous documentaries in the North America by Design series, created by LALH and Hott Productions of Florentine Films. Meanwhile, bookmark the LALH calendar page to catch upcoming public screenings.
