SHIPMANIA!

When The Gardens of Ellen Biddle Shipman appeared in 1997, practically no one had heard of the Cornish-based garden designer, but soon “Shipmania” seized the landscape history world. Marveling at the impossibly lush flower borders of this self-taught practitioner–who was also a divorced mother of three–new audiences bought the book in droves. Long out of print and almost impossible to find used, the LALH book will be reissued in a revised edition that includes many gardens discovered as a result of the original edition, with a larger format, splendid new design, and many new color photographs. Judith B. Tankard, the award-winning author of the original edition, observes that “Shipman’s artistic approach to garden design, based on beautiful plantings of intimate spaces, continues to inspire gardeners today.”
