Francis R. Kowsky’s new LALH book, The Best Planned City in the World, tells the story of  Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux’s park system for Buffalo—the most extensive  in the world. What better place to launch the new LALH short film than Central Park, where the designers debuted just ten years before they set their sights upstate?

The film, Buffalo: Best Planned City in the World, premiered on October 24 at The Arsenal in Central Park, followed by a lecture by Kowsky, a reception, and a book signing. The event, co-sponsored by LALH and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation as part of its Uncommon Ground lecture series, drew a full house. LALH sends hearty thanks to all those who made donations in support of the film!
