A few highlights:

• LALH announces the publication of A Modern Arcadia: Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. and the Plan for Forest Hills Gardens by Susan Klaus Modern Arcadia tells a vivid tale of collaborative genius, focusing particularly on the remarkable plan of streets, parks, and common areas designed by Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., who drew on his father’s visionary concepts as well his own ideas about what makes a community work.

• Two new additions to the ASLA reprint series are also presented: H. W.S. Cleveland’s Landscape Architecture, as Applied to the Wants of the West with a new introduction by Daniel J. Nadenicek and Lance M. Neckar, and Wilhelm Miller’s The Prairie Spirit in Landscape Gardening with a new introduction by Christopher Vernon.

• In preservation news LALH profiles: Forest Hills Gardens, Queens, New York, Oldfields, Indianapolis, Indiana, Longfellow National Historic Site, National Park Service, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Val Verde, Montecito, California.
